Virginia

We visited VA twice in 3 weeks (and will go back for Thanksgiving. We went for Memorial Day weekend (as we often do) and for my new great-niece, Tori's, adoption party. My nephew, David, and his wife, Brenna, went camping over Memorial Day. Grandma, my sister-in-law Kathi, had their boys all weekend. The rest of the family had a huge cookout at Kathi & Harry’s on Saturday. We tried to take Michael and Ryan to the National Zoo on Sunday, but about 50,000 motorcycles from “Rolling Thunder” got in the way. We had to settle for a smaller local zoo. It was very nice, but very crowded since nobody could get into D.C.

Tori’s party was 5 days before Andy’s graduation, but we couldn’t stand to miss it. We drove down and back in one day. Once again I was happy to share the driving duties with Andy! We did have to stop part way back and catch a World Cup match!

There is a brewpub we love in Harrisburg called Appalachian Brewing Company. Over holiday weekends, we “go the long way” out the PA Turnpike instead of down 95 around D.C.  The highlight of that drive is a stop at ABC. I’ve never had their “regular beer” but the ginger beer makes your ears tingle. It's good stuff!

Honestly, he did that to himself, but I could  not stop laughing!

The decision to go to Tori's party was an easy one, but it was a long day. Andy is trying to relax before the drive back.

Selfies with a two-year-old...yes, she used my iPhone and took it herself.

This is what happens when you send Aunt Lisa out to get "a ball" for the kids to play with during the cookout.

Kathi had this pool that needed to be inflated. The only problem was that the compressor was a no go. So, Kathi, Andy and I took matters in to our own hands. (lips?)  At the very end of the process, someone found a very small pump. The kids had a great time – that’s all that matters!

 Party time at the zoo!

We had such a great time with the family and friends at the party. It was the best!
